Field trips are being taken to a whole new level with Google Expedition, a set of hand-held Virtual Reality (VR) devices that immerse the viewer in a 3-dimensional world.
HEF is funding this curricular enrichment to give students the deeper learning and understanding made possible by an immersive 360-degree experience. Students in grades 2 – 6 will be guided by their teachers and engaged in the curriculum in completely new and powerful ways through more than 100 VR destinations and experiences. Immersive ‘trips’ aligned with the curriculum bring life to lessons and provide exciting experiences for all students, opening up a world of possibilities.
ALL students can scuba dive with marine scientists in shark-infested waters as they learn about ocean conservation. ALL students can travel to Cairo, the Great Wall of China, the Galapagos Islands, even the Moon. Not limited to destinations, 3-D virtual reality connects students to authentic science, technology, and engineering experiences: ALL students can dive into the inner workings of a cell. VR technology takes students far beyond a bus ride, and creates active learning experiences that bring curriculum into the 21st Century.
