Building on HEF’s wildly successful Kiva Microfinance grant to North Junior High last year, two students are starting a Kiva U Club to expand Kiva’s ideals to HHS: “Dreams are universal, opportunity is not.” This grant allows students to have a direct global impact by jumpstarting the Club’s efforts to make $25 loans to entrepreneurs all over the Third World. The Club’s goal is to involve more students at HHS, fundraise, and to loan at least $50 in each of the 27 countries represented by HHS students. Historically, 98% of Kiva loans are repaid, and the Club will continue to re-invest those funds in small businesses all around the world. Follow the Kiva Club on Twitter @hhskivaclub.
