Hopkins Read-Aloud has been successfully piloted by Ms. Beaverson – once with 35 classrooms, and again with 15; it’s time now to make it Great by bringing all Hopkins scholars together through a shared reading experience. Different books will be chosen for different grade levels and purchased with HEF funds. Then, over a period of weeks, teachers will read aloud those same books to their students: multiple picture books for grades K-1 and varying levels of chapter books for 2-6. Then let the collaboration begin! Classes within buildings as well as across the district will discuss stories and characters, and perhaps work on projects with one another. Author visits may be incorporated at some point in the future.
