Third graders will design solutions to engineering problems using inquiry, creation, planning, collaboration, and good old-fashioned trial and error. This partnership with The Bakken Museum will fully engage and motivate students, leveraging their curiosity in the exploration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Guided by the visiting experts and resources of The Bakken, whose mission is to ‘inspire a passion for innovation by exploring the potential for science, technology, and the humanities to make the world a better place’, students will experience the third grade Engineering Unit in a rigorous, unique, engaging, and relevant way.
All students will have five classroom sessions with Bakken experts as well as attend a STEM Showcase conducted at Meadowbrook by The Bakken. Each student will alsoreceive a take-home kit of materials, and the third grade will be provided with a reusable classroom kit to share in the future.
