Tanglen’s Media Center will use this grant to innovate into a hub of access – to digital information, to collaborative learning, and to a warm welcoming environment. In the vein of the Maker Spaces HEF has funded at NJH and Gatewood, Tanglen will now expand the concept to set up multiple stations of various activities including simple building materials and technology, a Cricut Maker machine, coding devices, and programable robots. Students will find a low-stakes, relaxed environment in which to try new skills without fear of failure. Making videos and solving puzzles are some of the collaborative activities to encourage perseverance and creativity. Teachers will be able to borrow these for their classrooms, as well.
