Celebrating a Half Century of Instrumental Music in Hopkins

Celebrating Half a Century of Music grant presentation pictureThe Hopkins community was invited to a spectacular concert at Hopkins High School Auditorium on April 27th, 2015 to celebrate fifty years of beautiful music and arts education. Participants included Hopkins graduates Tim Morris (Falcone Competition winner) and Brett Smith as emcee (past Teacher of the Year/National Finalist, and Education Advocate for MPR radio).

The Medalist Community Band, conducted by Jerry Luckhardt, performed with the 6th grade bands from Alice Smith and Glen Lake elementary schools, led by retiring Band Director Kay Hawley, 2012 Minnesota Music Educator of the Year. All Hopkins musicians – and music lovers – were invited to attend.
