Susan Wootten is honored to lead the HEF Board and believes the work of the Board contributes to an accessible education for all our students, supports a positive civic climate, and advances the common good. She has spent her career teaching, volunteering, writing about, and advocating for high-quality education opportunities as a high school English and math teacher in Nashville, TN, and Brasstown, NC. Upon moving to Minnesota, she has worked as a writer and editor with education-focused nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies.
From 2010-2014, Susan was an elected director of the Hopkins Public Schools Board of Education, chairing the Board from 2012-2014. In 2018, she earned an MPA focused on education and community nonprofit organizations from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Susan’s three children are graduates of Hopkins Public Schools.
