Mindfulness Tools For Social-Emotional Wellness Grant – $1,000

Reflecting the vision of our Hopkins Public School District while integrating the highly regarded Mindful Schools K-6th grade curriculum, Teacher Stephanie Trebil brings this one-of-a-kind opportunity for first grade students and their teachers to learn mindfulness strategies together as part of the Mindfulness Tools for Social Emotional Wellness Grant at Eisenhower Community School. With the intent of lessening stress and anxiety while building resilience and emotional regulation, in turn creating a more equitable and thriving space, this mindfulness grant will bring Wise Owl Mindfulness founder and certified Mindfulness Educator Jen Feriancek into two Eisenhower first grade classrooms twice a week for five weeks.

Beginning in February 2023, students and teachers will engage in mindful movement, writing, art, reflection and thoughtful conversation with Feriancek with the goal of carrying over their learning to other grade levels at Eisenhower and eventually district-wide. Trebil and other first-grade teachers will begin utilizing the grant with an online course at their convenience in advance of the in-person instruction. Another facet of this desire to cultivate emotional wellness within the classroom is the hope and understanding that all that is learned will be carried beyond the school walls and into their homes as well, making the scope of this grant limitless and abounding in goodness.
