Two teachers new to North Junior High are energized to increase the selection of novels for their students to choose from. With this grant, the Language Arts department will purchase about 300 curricular-appropriate novels to engage students across multiple genres, topics, and reading levels, all designed to positively impact student engagement, self-confidence, and growth. Book clubs and reading circles around these novels will further excite students about what they are reading and connect them to one another’s shared experiences. The love of reading blossoms when students are offered exciting stories relevant to their own interests and experiences; this can become a pathway to lifelong learning across any subject area.
