Principal Mark French has found a unique way to encourage leadership, responsibility, and conflict resolution by engaging his students’ interest in robots. This grant allows him the ability to reach students far deeper than a traditional ‘visit to the principal’s office’. Students respond to these electronic creatures almost as pets – offering empathy and taking pride in learning responsible care-giving. As students learn programming, they are given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, becoming empowered, excited and engaged with their peers.
