This yearlong curriculum will take Juntos III students on a fantastic intellectual journey to explore a real world problem, finishing with a statewide Model U.N. Assembly conducted entirely in Spanish. Representing United Nations members, students seek a resolution to an issue of human rights, peace, security, sustainability or the economy.. Representing United Nations members, students seek a resolution to an issue of human rights, peace, security, sustainability or the economy.
Each participating student will each research a country, a culture, and a perspective. The culmination of their learning is the presentation of their solutions at the Assembly, held next Spring in St. Paul. A Model U.N. trainer will visit a few times throughout the year to assist students with their preparation. Students read, write, negotiate and compromise – all in Spanish – as they expand their global view and learn the inner workings of the United Nations.
