STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
Our Special Appeal at Royal Bash 2014 raised $21,000 to propel Hopkins’ STEM curriculum beyond the traditional school day — before school, after school, during breaks, and in the summer. STEM2 is an exciting partnership between HEF and Hopkins School District’s Community Education. All students in the District will have the opportunity to benefit from STEM2.
Today’s students will push boundaries, explore new ideas, and create a world far beyond our imagination. Generous donations to HEF continue to provide them the support they need: the problem-solving skills, the sheer joy of exploration, the fruits of collaboration, the safe environment to fail, and the encouragement to try, and try, and try again.
New, exciting STEM Toolkits for Elementary and Junior High Schools
STEM2 expands the current hands-on STEM curriculum to K-6 before- and after-school programs, including Kids & Company, S.M.A.R.T.S., and Summer Enrichment. Grade–appropriate STEM-based Toolkits will also be integrated into Junior High after-school programs, including L.E.A.D. and Summer School. All students in grades K-8 will have the opportunity to explore STEM2!
Additional ASC (Academic Support Center) Teacher for the High School
The Special Appeal will fund an additional STEM teacher for the wildly successful after-school tutoring program, the Academic Support Center (ASC). Attended by a wide range of HHS students with an average GPA of 3.2, ASC offers a voluntary boost to any student who desires to perform better in Math or Science (and Writing, as well).
